Back in May, we released a C-grade sci-fi video for the 70s rock-inspired “Elephant Man” – a video about us smoking a spacebong and then defeating a purple penis-monster [named “Coctopuss”] with the help from a nomadic, female alien tribe.
Today we unleash the new video for “Fat People”, the third single off Shunt – released in May of this year. The self-directed social pastiche is an ominous take on the obesity-crisis of the Western-world mixed with a Southern, deep fried, tongue-in-cheek country shuffle. Check it here:
Earlier this year when Litnet’s Henry Cloete interviewed me about Shunt, Cloete mentioned that he thinks [the song] “Fat People” is funny after which I responded with:
“The “Fat People” song is not a joke at all, it’s quite serious and maybe even sad. It’s about how the Western world has been force-feeding its people with so much fast food, bullshit advertising, reality TV and information that their bodies and minds have become obese balloons. And when you pop the balloon … feelings get hurt. Have you ever seen a fat man cry while having a comfort wank in front of his computer, Henry? And all this happens while other people in the world are poor, hungry and dumb because the balance is not right.”
Jamie Olivier would be proud.
